Eragon

Two and a half stars out of four. Dragons are cool. I want one now, lol. Lovely scenery in this movie, but it had the feeling of a Lord of the Rings ripoff in some aspects. And then there was the opening monologue...perhaps necessary, but really kind of, well...I guess you shouldn't have a section like that which just comes out and tells you the back story to the movie. I'm aware that Fellowship of the Ring did the same thing, but it was way better when they did it. This one felt rushed and well, just didn't seem like someone telling a story, like it should have been. Anyways, enough of my rant. This would be a good one to take the kids to if you think Lord of the Rings is too intense for them. The violence and stuff is more watered down in this one. Basic Synopsis: A young farm boy finds an what he believes to be a stone in the woods, but he finds out that it's a dragon egg when it hatches. He then finds out that he is a Dragon Rider, the only one left besides the evil king who killed the rest of the Dragon Riders off. Now it is his responsibility to lead the rebellion against the king.

Deja Vu

Three stars out of four. I always thoroughly enjoy Denzel Washington movies. As I like to dabble in astrophyics on occasion, and know a bit about how time travel works, I was curious about how they were going to do this movie, which is essentially about time travel. But I won't give anymore away. This movie is definitely worth seeing if you like Denzel Washington. Basic Synopsis: Washington plays an ATF agent investigating the bombing of a ferry that was carrying Navy personnel to a celebration. He discovers that a group of scientists, in collaboration with the government, have developed a way to look into the past and examine it from any angle they choose. They do this in the hopes of finding the person that planted the bomb.

The Nativity Story

Two and a half stars out of four. I confess that I was slightly disappointed, but then again, there wasn't that much material to work with in the first place. So far as my memory serves me, they kept it biblically accurate, which is a plus. But what I meant by the lack of material is, there isn't really enough in the Bible to make a movie out of with regards to the story of the birth of Jesus. Hence, the writers had to make some stuff up. It was technically a well done movie though. I was just expecting something as inspiring as "The Passion of the Christ", and it wasn't up to that level. One thing that fascinated me about this movie though was the stars...or rather, two planets and a star coming together. Is this an actual theory on how that particular astronomical event occurred? I will have to research that.
I don't feel that I need to give a basic synopsis on this film, as most people probably already know the story.

Happy Feet

Three and a half stars out of four. Can we say "penguin musical"? This is a very entertaining movie for all age groups, with excellent voice acting. The graphics were incredible, showing how far we've come since the days of "Toy Story". I wasn't overly fond of the music in this film, but that's just my personal taste. Definitely worth going to see. Basic Synopsis: In a culture that revolves around singing, a penguin is born without the ability to sing. Instead, he tap-dances, but for this, he is ostracized.
