Eight Below

Three stars out of four. The third star is for the dogs, because without them, this would be a very average, predictable movie. It is in a way, but hey, I love dogs, and huskies and malamutes are absolutely beautiful dogs. I wish I could have one. Maybe one day. Anyways...Basic Synopsis: After a long, dangerous excursion to collect a meteorite from Mercury that landed in Antarctica, the American team is forced to pull out due to a dangerous storm coming on at the end of the summer. However, there is no room on the plane for the dogs, so they are left behind. The main story is what happens to the dogs, and their handler's determination to return for them.

The Pink Panther

Two and a half stars out of four. I never saw the original, but I think I might now, having seen the remake. This movie does have its hilarious moments, several of them, so if you need some cheering up, you might go see this movie. On the downside, Steve Martin's fake French accent wears thin after a while, and there are some slow parts to the movie where nothing funny is happening. Basic synopsis: A bumbling French detective (played by Steve Martin) investigates the murder of a French soccer coach and the theft of his Pink Panther diamond. Also starring Beyonce and Jean Reno.

Shaolin Soccer

Three stars out of four. This one, like Kung Fu Hustle, was made by and stars Stephen Chow. A very entertaining movie, particularly if you're intrigued by the combination of kung fu and soccer. It wasn't as funny as Kung Fu Hustle though...perhaps they need to put the landlady in this one, lol. Definitely worth renting, though.
