The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Three and a half stars out of four. I read something earlier today that made some comments on how this was just a Lord of the Rings wannabe, that it is just trying to play off of LOTR's success. Even if it is, that still does not detract from the quality of this movie. So far as I remember, it was faithful to the books, more so that Lord of the Rings. I genuinely enjoyed the music in this film as well. Computer animation was good, and the way they made the mythical creatures was excellent. So many movies make stupid looking mythical creatures, but this wasn't one of them. I liked Liam Neeson's voice for Aslan, they made a good choice. Fantasy/sci-fi fans should recognize the name and voice as that of Qui-Gon Jinn from Star Wars Episode I. I think the best character of the movie, though, was Jadis, the White Witch. Tilda Swinton, who also played Gabriel in "Constantine" did an excellent job of being evil. And then there's the way she uses her wand (which is wickedly cool) and the swords at the end. That was one of the cooler fight sequences I've seen in a while. I wonder which of the other books they'll make into movies? Probably not all of them, but I'm hoping for at least: Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle.
