The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Three stars out of four. I have seen "The Excorcist", and while that one is more intense, I did not like its portrayal of God as impotent, and man as the one who can beat the demons. "Emily Rose" has a much better message. It supports the idea that demons and the supernatural do exist, and shows an interesting perspective on the way God works through tragedy. Aside from the message, this movie is sufficiently creepy in places. Yes, I did jump a time or two, and so did my girlfriend. It isn't disgusting-creepy like "The Exorcist", just weird creepy. It was done in such a way that I felt like I was in the movie, experiencing those things. Ooh, I hope I never do...but it would be interesting. I'd probably never sleep again if it happened to me, but it would be interesting. Basic synopsis: a Catholic priest is being tried for negligent homocide after Emily Rose died after he performed an exorcism on her. You see scenes from the priest and Emily's experiences through flashbacks during the trial.

From now on, I'm going to post a link to the IMDb's website for the particular movie I'm reviewing.
